I finished :)

                      

Well this has to have been my favourite project so far it has let me show what I can do best. I love being able to chouse what I do and what it relates to. 

                     

I have produced 5 final samples for my project which I can see being used in the textiles industry within cushions, curtains and many other textiles objects. Within this project I have had the least time to produce the work but I feel I have done the most and the best work out of the whole year here in Leeds. I am sad to say that this is my last project here but I have learnt so much from being here that I will keep with me in my new university and as I progress on to finish my degree. 

My head ....

While doing this project I have found myself again I fell I am not being confined to a box and having to follow a certain criteria that I have to produce a certain amount of work in a certain way. This project has by far been my best and my favourite, I have produced the most work out of them all and I feel I have produced the best work. I feel I have a range of different pieces that all link together. I am glad that I dropped the extreme winter sports and the 1920's as now looking at all my fabric samples this was definitely the best one and the one that I fell stonger about. I love all the textures and shapes you can create with folding some fabric. My range of samples are good as I have experimented cutting the fabric, folding the fabric, hiding things in it and many more. I went on to develop it by seeing if I could do rubbings of the initial samples onto fabric and then pleating,cutting and trapping with it. I feel that the rubbings make the fabric look dirty and it distracts you from the main attraction of the pieces the texture. Within my finals they will just be plain cream fabrics and maybe include some coloured thread when tieing it all together.  

Extreme winter sports drawings....

When doing this part of my brief I have found that I am finding it hard to get it to fit in with the fabric manipulation side of my project. I feel like I am going to stop doing the winter sports and just concentrate on doing the 1920's section and the fabric manipulation this will make it more simple to create links between just the 2 topics not 3 extremely different topics.

Both these artists are very inspirational towards my work but are very different one is home made the other isn't they both produce amazing work including different shapes and a veriaty of colours.

Making my proposal for my final project of first year.....

When looking through my work I have done I have seen that I haven't really connected with one to develop it as much as I would like to but in coming up with my own brief I feel like I would be able to connect properly and produce a large and good volume of work. I have a large interest in the manipulation of fabrics and feel that this could be a good starting point for my project within the bracket of this I will look at pleating, smocking, embroidery hand or machine, and taking inspiration from the last project and concentrating on the concept of handcrafted. 

Within using fabric manipulation I want to try and parts of winter sports and inspiration from the 1920's as well. This is rater a lot of different things to try and encorporate together but I will see how it goes and if it doesn't work I will have to re think my idea. 

A main body of my research will be towards cushions and the fronts of them and how I can make they eye catching with textural unique covers.

Final books :) ....

       

Having my final books finished is the best feelings ever I produced two books the first was more of a simple one with just Lino prints in it and it had all the pages sewn in with white cotton this produced a clean cut book which was produced using only hand crafted techniques. My second book I feel is more me it is a miss match of Lino prints and mono prints which are also hand sewn into the hand made book. Within this one i have sewn them in using coloured thread which is brighter versions of the green and pink which then contrasts the book and makes it much brighter. I have sewn the squares holding the prints in in different sizes to make the book a little bit more quirky and unique.  

Colour scheme

                                 

I have decided to take the paler colours Andy Warhol uses to create my book as I like the idea of them having an antique feel to them which I can create with these colours. Within my book I want to include pages of just patterns , but I also want to include pages of just Lino printed dogs and then as well as them I want to include some dogs on top of the patterns as well as plain. Also as well as using Lino prints I am going to include some mono prints to give the book a range of textures, these two techniques give it the antique feel/look that I am after as they are rough techniques which don't always come out perfect. 

Artist influeces

Towards my final piece I am looking into Andy Warhol as one of my main influences due to his choice of bright colors and range of different colours. Where Andy produces prints using screens i am going to produce prints using Lino printing and mono printing this then creates a different kind of print and makes it have a more rustic look. I am then going to look into the colours Andy used in his work and like more the colour references into my prints instead of the techniques he uses. I like his work as it is fun to look at as it is bright and colourful and attracts people to it because of this, I want people to do that with my work. 

                            

Lino printing.....

                              

Lino printing.... I love the Lino printing as you can create an amazing effect with just a piece of Lino and some inks. My Lino print have took time to calve but when spending the time producing them it made the final prints more thrilling to produce after spending all that time producing them. When learning this way of doing Lino printing I really enjoyed it and I want to develop my skills within this technique and want to use it as one of the main elements within my final piece. I feel that this will create the best look on my piece's to show off the images best.

Mono printing.....

                                  

This mono print of sky is one of my favorite ones it shows he character with her tilted head. Within this style of printing I like that you can get a range of mark makings within it and also you can produce amazing images with a large amount of detail and shading but you can also produce linear drawings to.

                                 

These linear drawings are really effective you can produce a veriaty of different kinds of linear effects, when doing them I used different mediums to draw with I personally prefer to use the brio pen and then also print onto newsprint which created the best print as it picks up a large amount of the ink and creates a quite messy background which I like.

i decide to just started by doing sketches to try and get my confidence up about drawing the dogs this really worked :)

I feel that by the end of this project i am going to have a lot of confidence to produce more detailed drawings and to challenge myself in what i produce.

19th Century project...... The Pups

This project has to be my favourite yet, all hand crafted beautiful pieces and we can use anything to inspired us so i am making mine personal to me and what is in my life. This is one of the ting that i miss the most when i am away from home my dogs, the constant companion that is always there no matter what.

I have decided that within this project i feel i will do something different to what i normally produce and choose to do an artist book involving all the dogs.

The Big Exciting News !!!!

This is very personal to me over Christmas my boyfriend proposed to me it was the best moment of my life. Every girl dreams of that moment and I never though that it would happen to me. With this news I now feel like I not only need to work hard to get a good degree for myself I now want to work had and make my fiancée proud of me and proud to have a girlfriend that went to uni and completed it with a good high degree. It is hard being apart but I will be better of in the long run for going. I am already getting ideas on what I want to do and include for the next project that makes it personal and memorable to me.
